Do we know Viva's current emissions & future if terminal is built?

Hi Vicki, we do. Viva’s refinery emissions are currently 35% of all Geelong emissions. By 2040 with the addition of the gas terminal, and decreasing community emissions it will be 50%

Why would a export gas field (eg. Woodside) supply the Viva Terminal when the price in export markets is superior to Domestic?

Hi Vicki - there are some changes. Mainly around removing rebates that supported gas appliances being connected. Also the change to allow those that have already installed solar panels to access the grant again to install a heat pump hot water unit or similar.

Could we more-or-less write down our script for our presentation and make that a letter?
ACF Community Group
54:11
Absolutely Jason
Jason

I plan on putting a bit of work into that, so that's a double win
John Godfrey

Peter Chomley, partly because they think it will increase pressure to raise the domestic gas price basis from export netback to import parity... :-(

Another strategy is to question shareholders re ethical investing. Companies are faceless and work for profits for the shareholders. Has this been considered?

Yes unacceptable risks may persuade politicians

Apart from the obvious reasons that the proposed gas hub is not a good idea (damage to marine life, danger to nearby residential areas etc), has there been much mention of the new Tasmania ferry terminal? I believe that is being constructed very close to the proposed Viva site (correct me if I’m wrong). If that is the case this will have a huge impact on tourism I would imagine - apart from being huge risk to a potentially large number of people, both passengers and crew.
Vicki, GS
01:23:44
Yep Peter Kealey, GS has been pushing this to Vision partners. Geelong is a UNESCO City of Design - our N-facing bay is its greatest asset,
John Godfrey
01:26:24
Because of renewable energy capacity factors - you need to overbuild solar and wind, it means there is LOTS of surplus power on sunny windy days. That's when you make green hydrogen (it's a process you can readily turn off and on) and store the hydrogen for use in other ways.

Would be good to get some people to Portarlington on 22 July to show VOPAK there is community resistance here to the gas terminal
