Cass from Wurundjeri. My interest is at a natioanal/global level. We know that we cannot afford any new gas/coal projects if we are to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees of warming. Everyone here will know that this project cannot go ahead without harming the environment. I want this and other projects to stop for the sake of my children, and the next generation.

Chris cook and i are doing grandkids dinner so not on screen. Met with Danny Pearson A/Treasurer last week. Raised Viva. After making the case that we still need more gas developments his response was along the lines of there are a number of environmental checks before anything happens there.

Question if you have time to answer - re 'enough gas for domestic needs' proposition, (thinking if i was wanting to address this with a poli) , does the summary document indicate which companies and where our gas for the domestic market needs ?
ACF Community Group
33:34
Hi Melinda I've noted your question and we can discuss at the end.
Judy (Wurundjeri Country)
35:46
can you send us copies of these slides, pease?
ACF Community Group
36:26
Hi Judy, absolutely slides and recording will be available at the end of the presentation.

*supplementary point to my question - I should have clarified 'our domestic needs' based on the 50% reduction target by 2030

I think hard copy mail/delivery has more power to it than email, which are a little TOO easy.

@peter Cook -- great

Vic Parliament last session is 22nd of September do we think they will make the decision by then?
Greg - Geelong Renewables Not Gas (wadawurrung country)
54:12
@Ant1 it's possible but doesn't need parliament. Our thinking is they either do it late Sept/early Oct to get it out of the way, or push back till after the election.

Is there going to be a photo taken on Wed when the petition is to be tabled in Parliament?
Sal Fisher - Wadawurrung country

Re letters rather than email, a number of MPs have told us in C4C and elsewhere that emails are just as good, perhaps better

Geelong Port initially were against Viva and then did a deal with them. what's the latest on that?

57:53
An encouraging sign: Origin Energy has today announced its withdrawal from the Beetaloo gas fracking project in NT. (Although another company will take that over, the fact that we've been able to force its withdrawal, - and also AGL's Westernport project win - are a good indicator that we are making headway.)
Cass (Wurundjeri)
57:57
Where do our First Nation people stand on this project?
Peter Cook
58:27
Danny Pearson said the other day that Vic Gov are still worried about gas shortages in 3 to 4 years time. They think it possible that some of the coal power stations could close prematurely (on economic grounds).

As a human services housing resident, the govt could make a big reduction undertaking to transform all of their residential housing from gas to lecktrickery. I keep hassling, not an option I can otherwise facilitate on my own here (not permitted anyway, as a tenant.)

Heating I could apply electricity only, but for hot water and cooking, I cant really use a kettle and a frying pan.

01:08:29
True Ray, but there are all electric options to do both your cooking and your hot water. The Vic gov’t even gives subsidies to help with this. Happy to chat about this later if u like, but the above resources have all the info u need.

Ray, totally acknowledge your earlier post that the government should be retrofitting public housing. They have made a big deal about new public housing being gas-free.
